Somewhere in between Coachella and Burning Man, there’s Lightning in a Bottle. Over Memorial Day weekend from May 24th – 28th, the hills of southern California will host an eclectic gathering of electronic musicians, performance artists, and a whole caravan of the wonderfully weird.
LIB’s relationship with headliners Bassnectar and Glitch Mob goes back to 2007, when the two groups, as well as the festival itself, were finding their footing. This year they’ll celebrate their respective successes – past and present.
While the lineup skews heavily toward dubstep, ‘psybient,’ and electronic fusion, there’s a few unexpected names: Germany’s Apparat, the UK’s Star Slinger and Jesse Rose, and the Bay Area’s own Justin Martin are reason enough to make the trek. And of course, there’s the spectacle alone – where else can you see people emerging from port-a-potties on stilts, performing hula hoop acrobatics, and wielding and wearing all manner of objects, curios, and kaleidoscopic psychedelia?
