Three-Way

Sam Liccardo, David Pandori and Tom McEnery remind me of another wonderful trio. (“Carr Talk With Cindy Chavez,” The Fly, April 14.)

The Bee Gees were originally a singing trio of brothers—Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb. The trio were successful for most of their 40 years of recording music, but they had two distinct periods of exceptional success: as a harmonic “soft rock” act in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and as the foremost stars of the disco music era in the late 1970s. The group sang three-part tight harmonies that were instantly recognizable; brother Robin’s clear vibrato lead was a hallmark of their earlier hits, while Barry’s R&B falsetto became a signature sound during the disco years.

Cindy Chavez is like Joan Baez.

Data Points

Mr. Martinez has looked at neither the city of Santa Clara’s own paid research (the “lying” data that Santa Clara Plays Fair uses) nor the negative experiences of virtually all public-private stadium projects. If he had, he would see that the “truth” shows that this is a bad deal and that the million-dollar advertisement effort is where the lies are being told in order to provide welfare for billionaires.

Cutter’s Way

Didn’t the airport art (the hands on the garage) cost $800,000 or something like that? (“The Spin of Spend,” MetroNews, April 14.) Can’t you cut out airport art, statues in the park art (parma park) and many other expensive art works?

What about all the city workers sitting on their behinds shuffling papers?

Microchip Miley

Why don’t they just put a microchip in our brains that make us vote Republican? Most people are already so brainwashed that if the slobber from Pavlov’s dog hit them in the face they wouldn’t even know it. Times are so bad I had to trade in my Hummer for a Lincoln Navigator. But hey! Don’t ride my butt, OK? It’s a hybrid. It’s too bad about Miley Cyrus, y’know, that she had to grow up. I was worried, but the kids haven’t even noticed. They can’t stay focused long enough to twitter.
