Welp… It’s that time again. We humbly present to you, dear reader (and listener) the fourth Metro Silicon Valley podcast, which we are tentatively calling SV411. In this ‘cast, Metro Managing Editor Josh Koehn and A&E Editor Nick Veronin discuss this week’s issue.
Our May 10 cover story comes to us with help from ProPublica. Titled “Silicon Valley Flare Up” the piece takes a look into Cloudflare, a locally based content data network that has been linked to a number of alt-right websites. One question raised in the piece is whether Silicon Valley’s libertarian streak makes the region more sympathetic to Trump than the Bay Area’s solidly blue reputation would lead you to believe. Pick up a copy of this week’s Metro and read the story for more.
We also check in on the latest in the Sierra LaMar trial, which concluded earlier this week with a guilty verdict for Antolin Garcia-Torres.
And in arts news, Helen Mirren takes on the role of Sarah Winchester; The Ritz hosts a screening for a super-gnarly skateboarding video; and the extremely talented clarinetist Anat Cohen comes to Cafe Stritch with Trio Brasileiro.
And, as a special treat, this week “Mighty” Mike McGee and Ato Walker join the podcast. The local entertainers, poets and humorists talk about how they workshop jokes, Mirren going nude in Caligula and their respective talent shows—The GO GO! Gong Show and Walker’s weekly Comedy Show at The Caravan Lounge.
