Bob Weir needs no introduction, especially in these parts. Fifty years ago, on New Year’s Eve 1963, he followed the sound of a banjo wafting through the Palo Alto night to find a man named Jerry Garcia strumming away in a music shop, waiting for students to arrive. The guitarist, singer and songwriter has blessed the world with his distinctive country-tinged psychedelic rock ’n’ roll ever since. This week, Weir plays five nights with his band just miles from where it all began. The run is—predictably—sold out, but there is a livestream for all the Deadheads at home.
