Grammy-nominated DJ and producer Wax Motif hits the Civic this weekend. The Australian-born DJ, whose birth name is Daniel Chien, first emerged in the music scene in 2010. He is a unique DJ with a different sound, known for his contribution to the Ghetto House movement, with its spare 808s and deep bass, but he also draws influence from R&B, disco and UK bass. Motif has worked with an array of artists from different genres such as Diplo, Deadmau5 and Major Lazer to YG, Ty Dolla Sign, Problem, Freddie Gibbs and Kurupt. Wax Motif is known for performing at festivals like EDC, but this time he’s all San Jose’s.
