Equal parts campy and punk-rock, Brea Fournier and the Dream Ballet leave their Brooklyn stomping grounds for a West Coast tour this month. Educated at the prestigious Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, Fournier recorded her debut feminist rock opera concept album Manic Pixie Dream Girl! last summer with producer Barb Morrison (Franz Ferdinand/Blondie). The lead single “Petty Things” has won her comparisons to Paramore and Pat Benetar, and the album’s imminent release will be paired with a feature film and theatrical concert experience. Will this self-proclaimed manic pixie dream girl become a multi-dimensional pop-punk star? What unfolds onstage will answer that question.

Addie Mahmassani is a poet based in Santa Cruz. She holds a PhD in American Studies from Rutgers University-Newark and is currently an MFA student in creative writing at San Jose State University. There, she is a Teaching Associate as well as the lead poetry editor of Reed Magazine, California's oldest literary journal. She also surfs, sings and loves a part-sheepdog named Lou.
