Hiromi Uehara has sent shockwaves through the world of jazz since her debut album Another Mind released in 2003. Now, two decades later, the performer known solely as Hiromi graces Stanford’s Bing Concert Hall stage Wednesday to share her latest project, Sonicwonder. The group is an “electrified” four-piece, featuring a trumpeter, bassist and drummer alongside Hiromi, who brings to life a creative energy made up of stride, post-bop, progressive rock and fusion melodies. Her work in jazz composition and as a pianist even led Hiromi to the highly-sought after gig, opening the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
