.George Gershwin Alone in Mountain View

George Gershwin Alone should be high on the bucket list for fans of the one-person show. This innovative piece of theater merges music with storytelling, bringing life to the artistry of one of America’s most celebrated songwriters. Writer Hershey Felder not only plays hits like “A Rhapsody in Blue” and “I Got Rhythm” with uncannily Gershwinian sensibilities, but his performance adds depth to each song by including anecdotes about the creation process. Selecting from films like An American in Paris and Porgy and Bess, there’s a song for everyone in this lovely play. As Broadway World says, “Actor, playwright, composer, producer, director, and piano virtuoso Hershey Felder is truly phenomenal.” (AM)
