How guitar players engage with their instruments is often talked about just as much as their music. With that in mind, Kaki King and Tamar Eisenman have developed a new show called SEI (Italian for “Six”). The show falls somewhere between a musical performance, dance choreography and interpretive art. They perform music with multiple guitars on stage, but how they play each guitar is the thing to pay attention to. The variations on how tend to change the music experience, frequently boiling down to the distance between the performer and the guitar. Kaki and Tamar build so much from this small detail. (AC)
