Oingo Boingo were pop culture music nerds gleefully mixing genres. In the ’80s, they were right there with Fishbone leading the way for the eventual ’90s pop-punk ska explosion with swing, New Wave and even classical and opera thrown in. Their theatrical, energetic live shows were legendary. Chief mad-musicologist Danny Elfman departed, going on to write the Simpsons theme and soundtrack most of Tim Burton’s films. It seems the rest of the crew grew restless watching their lead ascend into stardom, so they put this legally distinct version of the band back together so that they might continue bringing the Boingo goodness to the masses. Lucky, Lucky!
