Psychedelic rock is primarily associated with the latter part of the ’60s. Heavy metal had its peak in the very late ’60s and early ’70s. But here it is, the middle of the 2020s, and Australia’s own King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are finding sustained success with a modern-day take on rock. The six-man group is endlessly creative (working in progressive rock, surf, blues, metal and synth-pop into their music) and prolific (26 studio albums since 2012, including five released in a single year). Their latest is Flight b741, released in August.
