The Copenhagen-based psychobilly band Nekromantix brings horror-themed music to San Jose. Frontperson Kim Nekroman formed the band in 1989 after spending eight years as a submarine operator in the Royal Danish Navy. After drumming in a rockabilly band, he built his signature “coffin bass” out of a child casket and started Nekromantix. Only six months in, they landed a record deal for their debut album, Hellbound (1986), and toured Europe as one of the few non-English bands in the psychobilly scene. Their latest album, Life is a Grave & I Dig It! (2007), features guitarist Tröy Deströy and drummer Andy DeMize.
