The Palo Alto Philharmonic presents an evening of classical music featuring two pieces. The first is Kyoto-born, France-based composer Yuko Uebayashi’s Flute Concerto led by flutist Ráyo Furuta (dubbed the Rockstar of the Flute). Furuta is also a professor at San Jose State University. The second is a work well-known even outside classical music circles: Symphony No. 5 (aka the Fate Symphony), composed between 1804 and 1808 by Ludwig van Beethoven. A 7pm pre-concert talk helps place the musical pieces in their historical and cultural contexts.
