Based in New York City, Idaho-born Julia Keefe is a jazz vocalist, actor, educator and activist. She’s also a Nez Perce Native American and leader of the Indigenous Big Band. Led by Keefe, the 16-member group represents Indigenous peoples and their contributions to the most American of musical forms: jazz. The group presents classic works and new original material that celebrate and helps sustain the form’s traditions. Keefe’s award-winning vocal presence is merely one of the many assets of JKIBB.
