Oakland-based writer Carvell Wallace writes for Slate, Huffington Post and Pitchfork and has contributed to The New Yorker, New York Magazine, Esquire and GQ. He’s also hosted three podcasts and cowrote 2019’s The Sixth Man: A Memoir with NBA champion Andre Iguodala. Before his journalism career, Wallace worked as a teacher and devoted time to programs that helped incarcerated and at-risk youth. He’ll read from his 2024 memoir, Another Word for Love, in which he recounts growing up with a single mother, battling with addiction, becoming a parent and living as a Queer Black man.
