Aqua Net, spandex and makeup were the main staples for all genders in the ’80s and nowhere more prevalent than on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, where the glitz drew dreamers hoping to make it as big as the hair so many metal bands wore. The heyday of glam metal gets revisited in 2005’s Rock of Ages, where resident toilet cleaner Drew Boley follows his dreams to make it big while German developers and city officials threaten to demolish the Strip to make way for yuppie condos. Will Boley and friends save rock ’n’ roll, or will it become another corporate casualty? The beloved musical features tracks by Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.
