The nation’s second-largest newspaper company, which also owns the Merc, added another newspaper trophy wife last week with its acquisition of the Silicon Valley Community Newspapers, a group of eight weeklies in Los Gatos, Saratoga, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, Campbell and San Jose.
