3D printing technology will change the future, with bio prosthetics leading the list, but things got a little tense when Cody Williams, a young Texas libertarian, uploaded free-for-all instructions and CAD files for anyone to manufacture their own working—albeit plastic—gun. Think the Founding Fathers had that in mind when they penned the Second Amendment? Months later, the House of Reps voted to extend a law banning plastic guns. It kicked off a discussion about whether these printed-out firearms should have a shred of metal added, which would skirt the ban but also make them easy to spot by metal detectors.
Mentaly ill dumped in San Jose
San Jose and other California cities unwittingly served as the destinations for thousands of mentally ill patients who were kicked to the curb by a Nevada mental hospital this year. Overwhelmed state health agencies sent schizophrenics and others packing with little more than a handful of pills and a one-way bus ticket. One man, who was delusional and suffered suicidal thoughts, found himself in Sacramento in February with no money and a note from his Nevada doctor instructing him to call 911 when he arrived. A federal class action lawsuit has been filed against Nevada authorities with help from the American Civil Liberties Union.
