Under the direction of conductor Barbara Day Turner, the San José Chamber Orchestra presents A Trip to the Southern Hemisphere, an evening of modern-era classical music featuring acclaimed Bay Area-based violin soloist Liana Bérubé. The program includes Astor Piazzolla’s The Seasons (Estaciones Porteñas or The Fours Seasons of Buenos Aires), a set of four tango compositions conceived in 1970, and Paso del Fuego, a 2010 concerto for string quartet and string orchestra by Argentinian composer Pablo Furman.
