Cultural extravaganza Alegría Mexicana: Folklorico Fiesta showcases a live performance by San Jose’s own Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles, a professional dance company dedicated to preserving Mexican dance culture, cofounded in 2007 by Ashley Lopez-Gonzalez and Cesar Gonzalez. The bill also includes Mariachi Tapatio, a seven-member San Jose group founded over four decades ago, playing songs in classic ranchera, son and bolero, all styles immortalized on their 2004 album, Canciones De Mexico. The evening will be filled with heritage, authentic music, vivid colors and exuberant dance, all capturing Mexico’s rich traditions and cultural essence.
