We are now officially in the Oscars season of rock shows and it feels like every week we have a new contender for Show of the Year. Alien Boy play a brand of jangly chorus-washed power-pop that has brought them from the house show circuit to the good graces of Pitchfork in just a few short years. They’re joined by an abundant cheese plate of “Your Favorite Bands’ Favorite Band” and all three of the California underground rock up-and-comers on the bill beforehand are fresh off new releases. Ridgeway (Orange County), Absinthe Father (Oakland) and Star 99 (San Jose!) all have something to prove to audiences this Tuesday.
