Video game soundtracks performed live have become increasingly popular in the past decade and for good reason. They capture timeless themes, illustrate emotional highs and provide an entryway into classical stylings for a younger, modern audience. This week, virtuosic pianist Ryan McGaughey brings video game music to the South Bay along with backing musicians Michelle Dreyband on vocals, John Maich on violin, Kenta Shimakawa on guitar, Robert Palermo on drums and Chas Wilken on bass. Besides a refreshing approach to classic video game soundtracks, the show features paired visuals, giveaways, mini-games and audience participation.
