Sometimes, the best way to see what lies ahead is to reflect on where one has been. As the November election approaches, what better time than now for a play that premiered in the Soviet Union in 1945? An Inspector Calls, what The Guardian called “a passionate plea for a more just and compassionate society,” runs Thursdays through Sundays, with a closing matinee on October 20. Directed by Mark Anderson Phillips, An Inspector Calls is about a well-to-do family who must take a hard look at themselves when their family celebration is interrupted by an inspector looking into the death of a young woman. Hitchcockian suspense abounds with self-examination.
