.Huney Knuckles and Skylar Tang at Mama Kin

Bay Area quartet turned quintet Huney Knuckles go straight for the sweet stuff. Originally formed in 2021 as the Black Star Pirates, the combo carve out a flavorful, electric groove from elements of funk, soul and bebop. Guitarist Brian Shue is known as a founding member of video game tribute act Super Soul Bros., but in Huney Knuckles he lets his chops really fly. At Winter Fest, the core quartet is joined by young trumpet star Skylar Tang. The group plays Mama Kin less than a year after composing new tune “Heart Strings” for San Jose Jazz’s New Works Fest in April. A welcome return.
