Who doesn’t love a good musical revue? And who of those who have heard of Stephen Sondheim don’t love the late “towering giant of musical theater”? The music of Sondheim can make one laugh hysterically one moment and weep with matched hysteria the next. He was just that good. Sondheim is known for his scored gems, like Into the Woods, A Little Night Music and Sweeney Todd. Even that daredevil of a play Assassins is his score. Being Alive: A Sondheim Celebration (presented by TheatreWorks Silicon Valley) is a revue conceived and executed by Robert Kelley and William Liberatore to celebrate Sondheim’s eternal genius and “profound understanding of the human heart.” Runs until June 30.
