Some musicians explore increasingly strange and esoteric soundscapes. Others, like Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys, find extensive footing in the classic roots sounds of American music. Composed of Robert Williams (aka Big Sandy), Ashley Kingman, Frankie Hernandez and Russell Scott, the band released its debut album, Jumping From 6 to 6, in 1994. Since then, they’ve grown into one of the best rockabilly and swing bands around, paying homage to the diverse styles of American music while injecting a refreshing twist to said roots. Besides appearances on TV shows like Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Big Sandy & His Fly-Rite Boys have released numerous albums and were inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame.
