Last week, articles were popping up all over the internet announcing that Bill Murray was going on a party crashing tour, which would have been dismissed immediately were it anyone but Murray.
His party crashing antics in New York have become the talk of legends. There are pictures to prove that Murray has—on more than one occasion—partied with complete strangers in their own homes, proving that Murray is truly the coolest, most unpredictable celebrity alive.
So, it makes sense that he would up his antics and go on a party crashing tour. The flyer announced 27 dates from August 1 through September 10, with San Jose being on August 7th. The only problem is, it isn’t clear whether it’s real or not.
The story appears to have originated from superofficialnews.com, which is a humor site, much like the Onion. The other main problems with the story are the “Bill Murray Party Crashing Hotline,” which is actually the phone number to the Westboro Baptist Churc and the fact that article quotes a nonexistent agent.
Whether the Bill Murray Party Crashing Tour was intended as a joke or a prank is unclear. It did indeed fool a lot of people. But certainly a lot of people wished it were true, and are still hoping Murray shows up in their town in August.
