Still 'Crazy'
Mary Gannon Graham sings again
By David Templeton
When it comes to musical fundraisers for North Bay theater companies, the ruling school of thought seems to be just four words: get Mary Gannon Graham. The acclaimed Sonoma County actress known for her stellar work in plays such as Shirley Valentine, Smell of the Kill and Taming of the Shrew, has attained new heights of praise after wowing the world with her singing chops in the hit show Always, Patsy Cline.
Last November, Graham (along with Cline co-star Liz Jahren), performed a one-night-only revisitation, performing the show to 1,100 cheering patrons as a fundraiser for the Sixth Street Playhouse. This Friday night, sans Jahren but with the same back-up musicians, Graham sings again, this time as a benefit for Petaluma's Cinnabar Theater. Titled Crazy for You, the event is a semi-formal "small plate, gourmet dinner," with Graham as the main attraction, singing tunes by Patsy Cline, Hank Williams and others.
Since no fundraiser is seemingly complete without a silent auction and plenty of flowing alcoholic libations, the $75 ticket price includes those value-added incentives as well, along with the mysterious "celebrity waiters." Tickets are selling fast, so if you're eager for more Mary, and feel the urge to support one of Sonoma County's oldest and best theaters, grab your reservations pronto.
Crazy for You takes place Friday, March 12, at the Cinnabar Theater, 3333 N. Petaluma Blvd. 6pm. $75. 707.763.8920.
