The 2017 Bridge School Benefit Concert has been canceled and Neil Young—the rock star behind the star-studded charity show—has announced he will no longer be performing at the shows. In a letter from Young, posted on the Bridge School website, the singer and songwriter—known for his work in Buffalo Springfield, CSNY and a long solo career—cited “personal reasons” for his decision.
“Although I will continue in fund raising efforts, for personal reasons beginning this year I will no longer be hosting The Bridge School Concert,” Young wrote.
Some have speculated that the decision might be due to a health condition or to a rift between Young and Pegi Young, his former wife. The couple split in 2014. Pegi also posted a letter on the Bridge School website. Read both of their letters here.
