In politically turbulent times, is it the artist’s responsibility to entertain audiences so they might temporarily escape their woes? Or is it to push change forward? This question is at the heart of Chaplin & Keaton on the Set of Limelight, an imagined conversation between Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton while filming Chaplin’s semi-autobiographical film Limelight. Down-on-his-luck Keaton had a supporting role as a down-on-his-luck comedian in a play mirroring the twilight of Chaplin’s career. Sinohui Hinojosa will direct this debut of the play by Greg Lam. Runs through July 21.
