.City Lights Theater Company Puts on ‘Every Brilliant Thing’

There are many joys in life to keep in mind when the going gets tough: a cool summer breeze, a new book, coffee with an old friend. In City Lights’s forthcoming Every Brilliant Thing, the company aims to bring all of those small tidbits to life, following the seven-year-old protagonist as family drama festers underneath. Written by Duncan Macmillan and Jonny Donahoe, the play wants to show that the small things really matter, whether you’re young or old. As one Chicago Tribune critic wrote, “I can’t remember feeling sad at not being able to continue my weekend without my fellow audience members.”
