Colin Meloy is a well-regarded songwriter best known as the founder, frontperson and guitarist for indie rock darlings the Decemberists, and responsible for writing all nine albums’ worth of songs. But Meloy has long had a concurrent solo career that charts a decidedly different musical path. Since his solo debut, Colin Meloy Sings Morrissey, he’s applied his unique skills to interpreting the works of others, with more albums following suit, like tributes to Shirley Collins, Sam Cooke and the Kinks.
