The members of Common Kings may have started in Hawaii, Tonga, Fiji and Samoa, but their sound—a rock-infused reggae with Polynesian accents and some hip hop flourishes—couldn’t have come from anywhere else but Orange County. The four college mates met at a backyard barbecue a couple of decades back, bonded over music, and formed a band that big-name artists like Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Meghan Trainor and CeeLo Green eagerly invited along to tour, as well as headlining their own tours and festival stages. They are touring to support their sophomore album, 2023’s Celebration.
