.Crown & Hammer: Russian Revolutionary Art

It’s been 100 years since Vladimir Lenin led his Bolshevik Party to overthrow the czarist autocracy. The Russian Revolution deposed Nicholas II, left the enigmatic mystic Rasputin dead and ushered a new socialist order into the halls of power in Moscow and St. Petersburg. The revolution also paved the way for some of the most interesting art of the period. In this collection, “The Crown Under the Hammer: Russia, Romanovs, Revolution,” will feature illuminating documents and art produced during the tumultuous period of transition, including posters promoting the unification of the world’s working class. The exhibit runs through January.
