Thrift stores and older siblings’ closets around the South Bay have been depleted of JNCO jeans and Hot Topic accessories, and now the public knows why: a dance night for the definitive sounds of Gen Z approaches. Described as “A Hyperpop + Experimental Rap Ritual,” promoters Illuminographer and The Soundgeist present a party themed around the sounds of artists like 100 gecs, JPEGMAFIA, Danny Brown and the namesake Drain Gang collective (including Bladee, Thaiboy Digital and Ecco2K). The pounding synth lines and pitched-up vocals are sure to be as strong as the Ritz’s drinks.
