A native of Bakersfield, California, and a jazz pianist by trade, Benoit got his start in the ’70s as the musical director and conductor for award-winning actress and singer Lainie Kazan. After that, he released his debut album, Freedom at Midnight, which reached number five on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz Album charts. This led to another two dozen albums reaching the charts and three Grammy nominations. Benoit, however, is best known for his work with the Peanuts franchise. Benoit has also arranged albums for influential jazz musicians and performed for three US presidents.
