.David Henry Hwang in Palo Alto

Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang shares secrets of the trade to kick off TheatreWorks Silicon Valley’s 20th Anniversary New Works Festival. The author of the celebrated play M. Butterfly, Hwang has won high esteem for his prolific storytelling surrounding Asian American culture, history and politics. Though he lives and teaches in New York City these days, he was born in Los Angeles and educated at Stanford. He will be joined in conversation with fellow Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph, whose play Describe the Night premiered at the 2014 New Works Festival. Cocktails and cupcakes await because the fundraiser coincides with Hwang’s birthday!
