3. Peek-A-Boo
Devo’s fifth album, Oh No It’s Devo (1982), is heavily electronic and further promotes an image of uniformity, commenting on the bland predictability of popular culture. They all wear the same outfits—like on their previous records—but the songs on “Oh No It’s Devo” all sound very similar and the three singles all have nearly uniform music videos, following the formula of the five members playing in their potato outfits in front of a large screen projecting different absurd images. “Peek-A-Boo” wins over “It’s Good” and “Time out for fun” because of Mark Mothersbaugh’s scary raised eye-brow glasses.
