Along with orange sauce and Sleep, Duster is one of San Jose’s true cultural exports. Labelmates with Modest Mouse and Built to Spill, Duster’s Stratosphere is a belatedly beloved indie rock classic. Slow, spacey and minimal, they found their sound and then proceeded to knock it out of the park. While the trio of Clay Parton, Canaan Dove Amber and Jason Albertini haven’t issued a proper Duster full-length since 2000’s Contemporary Movement, all three have continued to write and record music. They returned earlier this month with a brand-new, critically acclaimed LP. Pick up the self-titled album on Muddguts.
