A cool, post-hardcore/shoegaze revival is happening in the underground indie scene. Fell Off is a semi-newish alt band from Seattle that takes the city’s grunge history and infuses it with modern melody while keeping the long hair and ripped jeans aesthetic (at least in feeling, if not in actual fashion). Their debut album is a testament to the late ’80s/early ’90s culture of low-resolution cameras, hanging around with nothing to do and realizing the outside world might suck—but at least there are friends along the way to share cheap fast food and a few laughs. San Jose anti-folk revivalist Pacing, Bay Area indie rockers Lovers Peak and pop punks Star 99 join the festivities.
