Japanese pop punk is a whole creature unto itself. It’s equally infectious as it is mysterious, taking influence from power pop and American pop punk for a truly Japanese sound. Nobody does it better than the Ging Nang Boyz. The last time they were in the States was 19 years ago. This time, they play the country on a full-fledged legit tour (their first in America), and they’re bringing friends, most notably, the reunion of Shinobu, whose early aughts indie rock music influenced a grip of bands like Touché Amore, Joyce Manor and Star 99, the latter of which will be opening the show for a true blast from past and around the world.
