The ’80s never ended for Anthony Ramirez and Tania Costello’s glittery and gothic electronic project, the Glass Spells. The Mexican-American duo has refined a modern version of the retro synth-pop sound for the past decade, starting in their home of San Diego in 2014 and quickly finding fans worldwide. Their recent single, “Hechizoz,” highlights the band’s ability to weave poetry with pop, witnessed when Costello sings, Soy la hechicera/el frio de primavera (I am the sorceress/the chill of spring). For fans of Depeche Mode, the Cure and other post-punk legends, Glass Spells is a must-see. (AM)
