Though very much the sound of the present, the modern hardcore movement is still a spoke on the wheel of nostalgia. Kentucky’s Guerrilla Warfare know that the modern trappings of the sound are just begging to be mixed and matched with elements of the music leading up to our current moment, and they execute that by working in bits of ‘90s nu-metal and rap metal. Intense bars and frantic shout-singing create a feeling like the Slipknot tour bus crashing into the Gulch tour bus and someone recorded the ensuing fire. They’re touring their new EP Control when they roll through the X Bar this week.
