Blues Revue declares Mark Hummel “a harmonica God.” The storied harp player truly deserves this superlative for his four decades (and counting) on the road as one of his generation’s most dedicated harmonicists. With multiple awards and Grammy nominations to his name, Hummel continues to lead the Blues Survivors, the band he started in 1977 with legendary bluesman Mississippi Johnny Waters. When he’s not filling rooms with his trademark sound (which mixes bluesy wailing with swing beats) Hummel is known to pen a tale or two—most recently, his life story in his fantastical yet true memoir Big Road Blues.
