More of a research presentation than an art exhibit, “If Toxic Air is a Monument to Slavery, How Do We Take It Down?” by research agency Forensic Architecture investigates human rights violations. This presentation of research focuses on “Death Alley” in Louisiana and examines “environmental degradation and cancer risk as manifestations of colonialism and slavery.” Using digital reconstruction, remote sensing and fluid dynamics simulation, the agency develops evidentiary materials that can be used as visual aids in courtrooms, political processes, galleries, museums, schools and media.
