Something of a legend in the Bay Area metal community, Insanity has ridden the waves of metal trends and always landed on their feet. Founded in 1985, the band helped usher in the scene’s evolution from thrash to death metal through a healthy use of frantic tempos, heavy riffs and an atmosphere of sonic panic. Though composed of expert musicians, Insanity also had an instinctual business sense. They became well-known worldwide for their involvement in the ’80s metal tape trading circuit, leading to famous metal bands like Carcass and Napalm Death citing them as influences. This week, Insanity takes the stage and brings the brutality—along with supporting acts Hellhunter, Sodomy and Fabricant.
