Jackie Greene’s life in music has taken him all over the world: sharing the stage with Phil Lesh, touring as the lead guitarist with the Black Crowes and now, rambling along with a solo career. His solo work has a distinctly rootsy ethos, seeing Greene delve deep into the Delta blues, mine inspiration from old folk tapes and explore nostalgia via bluegrass. He weaves personal stories into this Americana aesthetic in The Modern Lives Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 with moving results. The singer-songwriter was born in Salinas and, after a while in Brooklyn, came home to settle in Northern California.
