Show business loves unlikely stories, and no one has a more unlikely story than comedian, actor and podcaster Jay (Jason) Mewes. He grew up tough in Highlands, New Jersey, ferried around various motels by his drug-addicted mother. During adolescence, he befriended future filmmaking icon Kevin Smith. Sensing a degenerate greatness in Mewes, Smith cast him in his first film, Clerks. It became a runaway success and cemented Mewes as a goofy but lovable wildcard for years to come, securing him roles in several of Smith’s films and even a few TV programs. Mewes has struggled on and off with substance abuse but is in better shape than ever, ready to showcase his unhinged but endearing comedic talents.
