The Bay Area powerhouse collective Jazz Mafia brings funky, fresh reworkings to holiday classics and then some. At Holiday Heist, six Jazz Mafia musicians will present reworkings of the classics, ranging from James Brown’s “Soulful Christmas” to Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.” Founded by trombonist, bassist and composer Adam Theis in the early aughts, this prolific crew of musicians, composers and producers have released 40 albums reimagining timeless songs in new and inventive ways, becoming a staple of the San Francisco soundscape.
