John Fogerty became famous in the late ’60s as leader, singer, guitarist and songwriter of Creedence Clearwater Revival. That quintessentially American group distilled the best qualities of the era’s music: tight, concise and accessible singles and the musical muscle to take listeners on extended jams. CCR has sold over 45 million records; the band’s timeless music remains a popular fixture of classic rock radio and playlists. Post-Creedence, Fogerty’s solo work, from his ’85 megahit Centerfield onward, embraces and builds upon the distinctive sound he had a significant role in creating.
